Bullerfest 2012 - Postponed

I've been fielding a few questions from around the country about what's happening with Buller Festival 2012. Yes, unfortunately the rumours are true. The hardworking crew in Murchison have made the tough decision to postpone the event for a year.

From the Buller Festival Facebook group

Hi Guys, Not sure if word has got around or if there are different rumours out there so thought I better clear things up....
We have decided to postpone BullerFest 2012 for a year.
There are a few factors behind the festival not happening this year - none negative - mostly just over commitment in personal lives of the main crew.
We are planning for 2013 to be bigger and better, and with us having a rest for a year we are planning to come back refreshed, amped and full of new ideas for next years event.
We are SUPER keen to have more of you involved in the organising / running of the event, volunteer numbers have dropped rapidly over the last few years and we are really starting to struggle to keep the festival going without your help. Please let us know if you are willing to step up - we would love to have you on board!
Have an awesome year and here's hoping for a wee bit more sun this summer!
We will keep you updated through here and on our website... we may have a few surprises hidden up our sleeves for 2013......

Until then there's a few events coming up on the calendar to get along too.

Monday Morning Motivation - Sickline Slow Motion

Starting the week off in slow-motion as I just stumbled across this long (17minutes) video of slow motion footage from the 2011 Adidas Sickline event. Filmed at 100fps on the Red One Camera it's smooth like butter and very crisp at 1080hd. If only all kayaking film makers had access to that kind of equipment.

Film Fest - Cairns Adventure Film Fest

The Cairns Adventure Film Fest is back again, they've just launched a new website and are calling out for entries in a variety of areas. Check out their CAFF website, and read below for the low-down on the event.

The Cairns Adventure Film Festival, now in its third year, is Australia’s ONLY adventure film festival that celebrates specifically Australasian and SE Asian-themed adventure films. Be it films made in Australasia or SE Asia, about these regions or by people from these regions – it’s all about celebrating the depth of talent and love of adventure that resides under the southern sun.

We’re looking for stories and narratives – tales that connect with a viewer and move through from the idea of a challenge through events as they happen to a conclusion – all in the outdoors. We’re looking for characters – people, adventurers that we’d want to know about, and a look into their lives and what they do and how they achieve it. And yes, we’re looking for killer shots, vision of people doing amazing things caught on camera that will blow us away.

Monday Morning Motivation - Something different.

Now it's not kayaking, but I found it quite entertaining. Will get a few kayaking related posts flowing over the next few days as there has been quite a bit happening around NZ and Australia. NZ Open is this weekend in Mangahao too, if you're close by worth heading along to see a bunch of the world's top slalom racers.

Monday Morning Motivation - Summer Freestyle Sessions

Well it might not be summer in the UK currently, but I've stumbled across this short video of World Champion freestyler James 'Pringle' Bebbington and a few others shredding a little hole somewhere in England.
